| Ethical considerations have always been central to the role of the pharmaceutical physician as the guardian of patient safety both in clinical trials and in future usage of the drugs. However these issues have always been addressed from a clinician’s perspective, and not from a Pharmaceutical Industry position. As the pharmaceutical market is a global rather than a domestic one, IFAPP opened the debate for multinational discussion. We wanted to establish "IFAPP positions" on ethical issues in pharmaceutical medicine. It was appreciated that it would not be possible to originate the definitive guideline or position, but we felt that we could achieve the production of a code that could at least focus further and wider discussion. |
